Côte d'Ivoire is a Republic which covers an area of 322,462Km². It is located on the West African coast, with the Gulf of Guinea in the south, in the north, Mali and Burkina Faso, in the east, Ghana and in the west, Guinea (Conakry) and Liberia. The project is in the diocese of Man, in the parish of Bloléquin. In the Moyen Cavally region, Bloléquin is located on the Bloléquin - Toulépleu axis.

After the independence in 1960, the country experienced long years of political stability. In December 1999, however, a coup d'etat confronted the country with a cycle of political violence which culminated in the civil war in 2002. The social trouble which worsened, disturbed the economic situation and undermined social cohesion. This situation has caused multiple disturbances, on several levels:

At the social level, we are witnessing the deterioration of the social and family tissu, intolerance, the disruption of the family and modern education system, ...

Economically, the deterioration of the domestic economic tissu is no longer to be demonstrated. The destruction of domestic and modern goods and tools of production leads to an impoverishment of the population.

In terms of health, we note that the modern and traditional healthcare system is disrupted.

Hundreds of thousands of students scattered throughout the secure part of the country have struggled to integrate into decent schools. Many ended up on the street. Others have fallen prey to the providers of child soldiers. In our area here, prostitution seems to no longer move anyone.

This war caused the total or partial closure of some schools and the destruction of others in the occupied areas - areas of which the Municipality of Bloléquin is a part. Young people, most of them students, decided to fight alongside the loyalist force to liberate the region. After the liberation of the region, another problem arose: the education and training of children, sometimes child soldiers.

For all these reasons, it therefore appears imperative to help the populations to prevent and durably alleviate the sufferings of our populations in the grip of real moral, intellectual and economic impoverishment. This is the answer to the creation of ICM - Manuela Catholic Institute. We felt the need for a peace training and education structure, with a professional school.

ICM - An answer

We thank the parents IRGHER and also all the large family of friends. The Manuela Catholic Institute is probably the visible part of an iceberg. Lots of projects are coming to an end here and elsewhere, thanks to friends who have helped us during the horrible moments in our history. Mrs Anelia ROMERO married CARTA and many others, with distance adoption still give the opportunity to educate and train various generations of our children since 2004
